This makes more sense in the context of this (incredibly condescending) article from Seventeen Magazine about “weird college majors”.
…I may or may not have sent emails to Seventeen and the author of the article:
I not only found your article “10 weirdest college majors” extremely condecending, but full of discouraging undertones.
Being interested in the field of comic book art may be “impractical and even impossible”, but rest assured that I’m sure your article is empowering more people to give up whatever outlandish dreams they might have about the workforce and become something far more reasonable like a writer of some sort. After all, comic books are meant for a far more dedicated niche audience like the millions that saw Batman: The Dark Knight and made it the seventh largest grossing motion picture of all time. It’s great that you’re really encouraging the young people who read your magazine that dreams deserve to be crushed for more manageable prospects. In the sincerest way possible,
Elisa Mask, future comic artist
You have no idea how badly I wanted to add a ‘fuck you’ in there, but I think the end conveys it nicely anyway.
Sorry to start your day off with rage, but I feel like y’all needed to share in mine.
